If you are not aware, CABQ is planning to build in Elena Gallegos Open Space, which will dramatically change the spirit of the experience there! Per the Land Use Restrictions written in the Deed between CABQ and AA, ANY BUILDING in EGOS is prohibited! But the city seems to be above the law and plans to forge ahead.
I recently spoke to the AA President of the Board of Trustees from 1982, Richard Elkins who signed that deed and clearly recalls the transaction and the intent of the Land Use Restrictions that were written included. He stated to me by phone: “building in Elena Gallegos will be against the spirit of the original transaction which was to preserve the land in its natural state”.
Because CABQ is pitching an “education center”, it seems AA Head of School and Board of Trustees are going to turn thier back on the intent of those that came before them and will not contest the city’s plan to ignore the clear and concise language in the deed to which BOTH PARTIES agreed in 1982!
