I’ve owned my 2016 Camry Hybrid for about four years now and it’s been an absolute dream to drive, but over the past couple of months I’ve noticed the fuel economy dropping significantly and the electric motor doesn’t seem to kick in as often as it used to. The battery indicator on the dashboard also drains much faster than before, and I’ve had a few instances where the car felt sluggish during acceleration, which is really unlike how it used to perform. I took it to a general workshop and they ran some diagnostics and confirmed that the hybrid battery is showing signs of degradation, but they couldn’t give me a straight answer on what the replacement would actually cost. I know these batteries aren’t cheap and I’ve heard people say anywhere from 5,000 to 15,000 AED depending on whether you go for a brand new unit, a refurbished one, or an aftermarket option. The dealer quoted me something absolutely eye-watering, which I honestly can’t justify spending on a car of this age, but at the same time I’m nervous about going for a cheaper option that might fail after a year and leave me stranded. I’ve been doing some research online and I’m trying to figure out how much does a Toyota hybrid battery replacement cost from a reliable specialist who actually knows what they’re doing, rather than just some random garage that claims they can do it but has never actually worked on a hybrid system before. I’m also curious about whether there are any places that offer warranty on the replacement battery, because that would give me some peace of mind. If anyone here has gone through this process recently with a Camry, Prius, or any other Toyota hybrid, I’d really appreciate hearing about your experience, what you ended up paying, and whether you’re happy with the results. I’m just trying to make a sensible decision here because the car is otherwise in great condition and I don’t want to give up on it yet, but I also don’t want to sink a fortune into something that might not even be worth it. Any advice from fellow hybrid owners would be massively helpful right now.
