Thank you, Peter, for your courage. You and your parent group have written an outstanding letter. And you have stated clearly and eloquently what many of us parents have been suspecting for a long time.

Your letter is both a diagnosis of the Academy’s problems, and a road map to fixing those problems.

The trustees should be grateful to you. You have done the Academy a great service, and I am sure that Albert and Barbara Simms would be the first to publicly thank you were they alive today.

Keep up the good work, and have confidence that your cause is just.

Peter Hibbett is a close friend. He is a man of integrity, and utterly devoted to the welfare of the Academy. He and his parent group spent a lot of time writing their letter. That letter is a service to the Academy – a labor of love – for which Mr. Watson and the trustees should be grateful.

Who else among us parents would spend so much time and effort to write such a balanced, accurate description of the Academy’s problems?

When Andy Watson impugned Peter’s integrity at the faculty meeting this morning, he revealed something essential about his own character.

Instead of addressing the issues – all abundantly documented – Mr. Watson went after Peter instead.

What a sad statement about the Academy’s leader.

Mr. Hibbett has done the school a great service. Like any kind of important medicine, it might seem bitter at first, but I believe it will ultimately make the academy a better and healthier environment for all. Thank you, Mr. Hibbett, from the bottom of my heart.
