I am glad Mr. Gordon did record the meetings. I hope AA will make the recordings available to those of us who do not live in Albuquerque any longer, but continue to care and maintain connections to those who do still work there.

I am still concerned that the plan (as I understand it from this forum) has no clear path other than fund raising. It seems unrealistic to think AA has enough big dollar donors who will bail out a school with such sketchy fiscal “management.”

A posting for the CFO position probably means interviews are being held for a new CFO. I certainly hope the “F” part of the title carries greater weight in the selection. Thus far, it seems those who are managing the money and selecting investments have done an abysmal job.

Further, AA has a department whose purpose is fund raising. Does AA need a head of school who is also fund raising? His salary is completely out of line for that work. Perhaps salaries of those in charge of bringing in money should be a percentage of what they bring in. Seems a good motivator to me. But what do I know, my portfolio only grew 10% last year.

Come on folks, look at the facts and trust your instincts. Three years from now every one of the principals in the present administration and HDC (Elkins, Collister, Watson, Gordon and on and on) will have driven off into the sunset and the Academy will be left begging. Can we come to grips with the fact that this is the story of small-town hucksters who stole the wealth and future of a great independent school?

I always assumed that he was solely responsible for fund raising – it’s not that much – only around $1M a year, which basically represents his burdened cost plus travel.

So aside from destroying teacher morale, see this:

          https://www.americanexpress.com/us/small-business/openforum/articles/9-surefire-ways-to-destroy-employee-morale/

Not accepting responsibility for mistakes – random loss of $100M – check.
Calling employees out in public – Out of control Probation – check.
Setting impossible goals – Financially recovery? Right. – check.
Threatening their jobs – Retaliatory firings, held contracts – check.

That leaves the question of what does he contribute, other than mayham?
