Albuquerque Academy seeks a new head! What do you think of the candidates? (Click here to view comments)

After a long hiatus, we’re back, and hoping to provide you, our community, with a space for discussion at this critical moment in the Academy’s history.

Since last we posted, Andy Watson has announced that he will retire at the end of this school year. The hiring committee (which consists of two current faculty members, one division head, a representative from Admissions, and eight members of the Board) has narrowed the field down to three finalists, all of whom have visited the campus and met with community members.

The finalists are:

J. Ross Peters, currently of St. George’s Independent School, Memphis, TN

Richard Kassissieh, currently of University Preparatory Academy, Seattle, WA

Julianne Puente, currently of King’s Academy, Madaba-Manja, Jordan

All three candidates’ resumes, bios and statements of educational philosophy are available to view here. (If you scroll to the bottom of the page, you can find a video of each candidate’s presentation to the school’s employees.)

Did you meet with the candidates? Have you reviewed their information? Which do you think would be best suited to lead the Academy? Do you have questions about them? The Board’s hiring process is still distressingly opaque, but we here at Save Albuquerque Academy hope to provide at least a space for discussion. Please leave your thoughts in the comments.
